Could we have our first baby movement??

Last night Miranda got her iPod out and played some music on her tummy over the ear buds. She said it was good music but I'm pretty sure it was Celine Dion. Anyway, she felt the baby move around and respond to the music. She said the baby liked the music but I'm pretty sure he was squirming and writhing in agony from "The Power of Love" or some other awful song like that. Plus he sent me a text that read "SOS!" One way or another, that's pretty cool. I'm sure the first big kick won't be too long. Also, Miranda just read that some mothers lose bowel control while giving birth. She's not real happy about that and wants to go C-section now. Poor monkey.....

Musings by Giz, Part I

What's up.. Giz here. Not much going on with us cats. I finally convinced them into giving me Sheba once again. I kinda laugh and taunt the other two cats feel bad for Cali and Syd because they don't ever get any. Well, not Syd.. she usually can't keep it down. Have you ever seen a cat throw up? Let me assure you, it's not a pretty sight. Anyway, I was surfing the tubes of the internets today and came across the results of a Gallup poll that says that 18% of Americans think the Sun revolves around teh Earth. Seriously, WTF?!?! Could that many Americans really be that breathtakingly stupid, er imbecilic, ummm mouth breathing morons, maybe troglodytic idiots uninformed? I mean, honestly, I'm a cat and even I know that. Jeez.... Oh well, it would go a long way to explaining the last 7 years. Anyway, the point of this is.. well, actually I don't think I have point other than the shear disbelief of that figure. That means that 54 million-ish Americans think that. What else do they believe, that the earth is really flat? Wow, I mean really, just wow!

20 Weeks! Half way there!

I am now 20 weeks along, which is nice. For some reason I want this pregnancy thing to hurry along, however, I know it is much easier to take care of this baby while he's inside me than when he is out. :) I am feeling pretty good so far. I do seem to get very tired though. It's Memorial day weekend and I am not sure what we are going to do. I hope we do something fun. I don't want to sit around the house all weekend. I worked my last shift at the wine bar last night and tonight we have a wedding. My friend Betty is getting married! I also got tickets to the Colonial golf tourney, so we may go to the on Sunday. I am so happy we have a long weekend ahead!

Miranda

Name...

Nothing much new to report. The house has been an unfettered debacle which doesn't appear to be getting resolved any time soon. If all goes well, it may be done by November but I for one am not counting on it. Miranda has been feeling a little bit ill but nothing too bad.

As far as the name goes.. well we've sort of narrowed it down to two. And thus far the police have only been called to the house twice, followed by only one mention from each one that the other "can be replaced." We think it's going to be Barrett Alexander. The only thing that is keeping us from going with Barrett is that we don't want him to be called Barry. I don't think it will be shortened from Barrett too much. Maybe in elementary, but kids are going to shorten names or call kids just about anything other than their actual name at that age one way or another. Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on that?

Meh

Tried to come up with something. But I got nothing that isn't political. So, we'll just go with the Rangers are still spares. They peacock around because they got back to .500.. and then promptly lose 3 in a row. Idiots. And how long before the Cincinnati linebacker that was suspended the last 2 years shows up at Valley Ranch? Over/under 1 week. I'm taking the under. Of course any mention of D/FW sports teams and fail just isn't complete without this...

New baby clothes

So we now have our first sets of clothes for our little boy. My friend Laurie dropped by tonight and gave me the cutest little firefighter outfits. She is so thoughtful. :) She already bought me a set of onesies months ago. Thanks Laurie!!

It looks like we won't be in our house until after the baby comes we are trying to decide how to make more room in our 1,000 sq ft house. We ended up swiching lots (long story) for our new house which is pushing the start date back. I think it will be fine and possibly a blessing since we won't be moving in the dead heat of summer.

Love,

Miranda

Taking Gizmo for a walk

So we got the great idea that since Gizmo always looks like he wants to go outside, we'd go get a harness and leash and take him outside. So we put the little harness on him and took him out into the backyard. He seemed okay in the back yard because I've taken him out there before (holding him.) We let him roll around and lay in the grass for a little bit. Then Miranda wanted to take him out to the front of the house, which seemed like it wouldn't be a big deal. It didn't work out so well was an abject failure. He positively freaked out and squirmed out of his harness and took off. We thought he was laying in some boxwoods between my house and my neighbors. After spending a few minutes looking for him in there, I found him in his backyard underneath an old beater truck he has. Luckily after coaxing him for a few seconds he came out from under the truck. Once we got him back inside, Syd and Cali started hissing at him. I guess because he smelled differently. Were going to take him out later tonight but I think we'll stick to the backyard.

Deep Thoughts by Sydney

Here's Syd contemplating her suggestion for the baby's name. She's torn between Sydney and Sidney. Although, in more introspective moments, she feels that there can really only be one. It's a dilemma she feels is as old as felines themselves. Do you harness something to beautify the drab world it inhabits or do you set it free, thereby darkening what it left behind and risking anonymity in a world without a true sense of color and the depth of understanding needed to relish in the power of it's fidelity? Yeah, I have no idea what she's talking about either.

Saturday

So we are finalizing our new baby boy's name and think we have agreed on one finally. It's all about compromise and we are AWESOME at it. I really thought I was having a girl, but I was completely wrong! I am now pretty excited about having a little boy, since everyone says, "Boys love their Mommies." Hope it's true in my case. I am sure having a little boy will be fun. Robert can teach ours how to play baseball and hopefully other sports as well. :) I know Robert will make a great Father.

Ciao,
Miranda

Now to the name...

Giz here. So now that they know the sex.. they have to figure out the name. The chances of her compromising one iota them agreeing on one name, let alone two, aren't very good. It'll probably end in a knock down drag out and one of them is going to jail. I need a drink.. or 10. I think we can still convince them that proper name should Gizmo Chan, Jr. Go vote and help me out!

Miranda and Giz on the couch

Giz tried to talk to Miranda about naming the baby Gizmo, Jr. She said she wasn't amused by it and the answer was no. As you can tell, he doesn't much care for her insolence. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's plotting some sort of revenge scheme, a la Stewie Griffin.

Syd and Giz say "Hi"

Syd and Giz say "hello" to the friendly neighborhood cat. Who (the cat actually belongs to a lady 3 houses down, who we're pretty sure lost a few cards in the great card shuffle of life) obviously doesn't enjoy the great outdoors as much as our cats think it must be great to be out there.

Baby Names...

Giz here.. Not much going on lately. They've both been busy doing other stuff. They're not leaving the front door open so I can talk to that cat that lives down the street. I think it's got the life, gets to wander around the neighborhood bumming food off other people. Then it gets to go inside for the night. Cali is finally being sociable, but Syd keeps snoring at night and keeping me up. Anyway, since they haven't picked a name out for the baby, I think we all need to let them know that there is only 1 name they can opt for. You know it, I know it. And they better figure it out. Yep, that's right, it has to be..... Gizmo Chan, Jr. I've put a poll on the sidebar, so mosey on over and let your voice be heard!! Anyway, I'm out for now.. my stockbroker is calling me and I gotta get ready to go play golf tomorrow morning.

The Big Day is Almost Here!

Tomorrow is the big day.. we find out the gender!! And of course, now that they've started the house, it rains.

1 more day...

Only 1 more day till we find out whether it's a boy or a girl.....

The anticipation grows...

Lots of exciting news today. They are finally starting on the house either tomorrow or Wednesday! And only 2 more days until we find out whether we're having a boy or a girl!

Due date countdown

We added this countdown timer for the due date. It's hard to miss, it's the thing with the 3-D baby. Question, is that creepy looking or is it me? Also, which is best, the Grizzly or Black Bear?

A little song for Mom

A song for mom from dad for Mother's Day.

Giz

Gizmo here. Dad ran out to get something at the store. Beer most likely, when he should be getting me some treats or Sheba. Anyway, I'll be guest posting here every now and then since my myspace account has become too popular. I had to shut it down. Oh well, off to harass Cali. Take a look at the flowers mom got!

Mom with her Mother's Day flowers

Picture of mom yesterday at work with her first Mother's Day gifts from my grandmother in Florida. Aren't they both beautiful? Thanks nanny! They really made our day!

My sisters

My sisters, Cali and Syd!!

My Bro

Here is a pic of my bro, Gizmo.

Robert & Miranda's Baby, the blog!

Welcome to our blog all about our little bundle of sunshine!! Miranda is approximately 18 weeks. We don't know as of yet whether we will be having a boy or a girl. We will find out on May 15th. So far we haven't had any problems, other than the regular issues. Moodiness, grouchiness, and irritability. And that's just Robert!! We are narrowing down the list of potential names and should be able to decide once we find out the gender. I just hope that our high maintenance cats can deal with having a little baby around to compete with for our attention.
