Today's Fark Headline of the Day

"Larry Craig (R-Toe Tapper) and David Vitter (R- DC Madame) honor Republican family values by co-sponsoring Marriage Protection Amendment. The jokes just write themselves."

We're getting old...

Just as a nice topper to buying a grocery getter last night we heard Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on.... wait for it.... MIX 102.9. That's right, a soft rock/semi-oldies station played the seminal song from our misspent youth. Oh, and not having XM is a real downer. I forgot how much of a beating it is to flip through radio stations while they're playing 85 commercials in a row until they play their next beat down of a song like Nickelback or Creed. Gah!

The Grocery Getter

Last night we had to cross one more bridge on the way to parentitude. We bought a grocery getter. Here it is, not a new one though. An '04. We'll post a pic or two of the baby wagon when we get a chance. Now the part that may prove some what harder, selling the truck.

Office Space scene

This scene from Office Space pretty much sums up what I wanted to do to this computer after I figured out I accidentally erased over 300 f#$%&*g songs off iTunes...

I hate computers

I somehow just erased all of my pictures and most of the songs I've ever downloaded on itunes. I think the title of this post says it all.

Ha, they think they can get rid of me....

Giz here.. So I see by the post below that these two scamps think they can get rid of me. Well, I do believe that they have another thing coming to them. They will rue the day they crossed me by posting such vacuous, trite, malfeasant slurs about me on the intertrons. Yes, they will regret the atrocities that have been committed to me in the name of their oh so precious sleep. And I will not soon be forgetting such banal, immoral attacks on me anytime soon. No sir, no way will I soon.... what was that, you get the point.... Fine. That new bed they just bought won't be worth the paper that stupid "do not remove" tag they were so dutifully warned not to remove was printed on when I'm done. Revenge will be mine and it will be bittersweet. It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor and this isn't over now. 1, 2, 3, 4 I declare a sleep war! Baron Von Gizhausen is ready. Oh, and in the meantime it would be great if they could pet me and maybe give me a whole can of Sheba.

Anyone need a cat....

Would any care for adopting a cat? His name is Gizmo. He is very sweet (at times namely during the day,) he enjoys looking out windows/screen doors, Sheba, chasing a laser pointer and likes demands a lot of attention (he's been known to run across the room and take flying jumps onto people and head butt them when he wants to be petted.) He is prone to somewhat psychotic episodes (namely at night) during which he will keep you awake for hours on end meowing, running around all helter skelter and harassing any other family pets. Locking him out of the room (I really, really discourage this option) will lead to him pacing around the door and meowing like something out of a horror movie. This could be his way of plotting how he's going to make your life miserable once you open the door. He's had one attempt at leash training, to somewhat mixed results, i.e. epic fail. Please leave your information in the comments section so we can contact you and you too can be utterly miserable and get zero sleep enjoy this darling little kitty.

The house..

We think we might have some dirt being pushed around at the new lot, so they might be finally starting on the new house (again.)

Update: Saturday 6/7

Not so much. They're just finishing out some retaining walls.

Could we have our first baby movement??

Last night Miranda got her iPod out and played some music on her tummy over the ear buds. She said it was good music but I'm pretty sure it was Celine Dion. Anyway, she felt the baby move around and respond to the music. She said the baby liked the music but I'm pretty sure he was squirming and writhing in agony from "The Power of Love" or some other awful song like that. Plus he sent me a text that read "SOS!" One way or another, that's pretty cool. I'm sure the first big kick won't be too long. Also, Miranda just read that some mothers lose bowel control while giving birth. She's not real happy about that and wants to go C-section now. Poor monkey.....

Musings by Giz, Part I

What's up.. Giz here. Not much going on with us cats. I finally convinced them into giving me Sheba once again. I kinda laugh and taunt the other two cats feel bad for Cali and Syd because they don't ever get any. Well, not Syd.. she usually can't keep it down. Have you ever seen a cat throw up? Let me assure you, it's not a pretty sight. Anyway, I was surfing the tubes of the internets today and came across the results of a Gallup poll that says that 18% of Americans think the Sun revolves around teh Earth. Seriously, WTF?!?! Could that many Americans really be that breathtakingly stupid, er imbecilic, ummm mouth breathing morons, maybe troglodytic idiots uninformed? I mean, honestly, I'm a cat and even I know that. Jeez.... Oh well, it would go a long way to explaining the last 7 years. Anyway, the point of this is.. well, actually I don't think I have point other than the shear disbelief of that figure. That means that 54 million-ish Americans think that. What else do they believe, that the earth is really flat? Wow, I mean really, just wow!

20 Weeks! Half way there!

I am now 20 weeks along, which is nice. For some reason I want this pregnancy thing to hurry along, however, I know it is much easier to take care of this baby while he's inside me than when he is out. :) I am feeling pretty good so far. I do seem to get very tired though. It's Memorial day weekend and I am not sure what we are going to do. I hope we do something fun. I don't want to sit around the house all weekend. I worked my last shift at the wine bar last night and tonight we have a wedding. My friend Betty is getting married! I also got tickets to the Colonial golf tourney, so we may go to the on Sunday. I am so happy we have a long weekend ahead!

Love,
Miranda

Name...

Nothing much new to report. The house has been an unfettered debacle which doesn't appear to be getting resolved any time soon. If all goes well, it may be done by November but I for one am not counting on it. Miranda has been feeling a little bit ill but nothing too bad.

As far as the name goes.. well we've sort of narrowed it down to two. And thus far the police have only been called to the house twice, followed by only one mention from each one that the other "can be replaced." We think it's going to be Barrett Alexander. The only thing that is keeping us from going with Barrett is that we don't want him to be called Barry. I don't think it will be shortened from Barrett too much. Maybe in elementary, but kids are going to shorten names or call kids just about anything other than their actual name at that age one way or another. Anyway, anyone have any thoughts on that?

Meh

Tried to come up with something. But I got nothing that isn't political. So, we'll just go with the Rangers are still spares. They peacock around because they got back to .500.. and then promptly lose 3 in a row. Idiots. And how long before the Cincinnati linebacker that was suspended the last 2 years shows up at Valley Ranch? Over/under 1 week. I'm taking the under. Of course any mention of D/FW sports teams and fail just isn't complete without this...
